The Wye Valley is a beautiful region where Wales and England meet, with breathtaking scenery and a fascinating heritage. The River Wye meanders through the unspoilt countryside, historic market towns and picture box black and white villages. Take a trip to Hereford and explore the history of cider or visit the historic cathedrals. The Cotswolds is one of the most quintessentially English and unspoilt regions of England, with gently rolling hillsides, sleepy ancient limestone villages, and historic market towns. Be educated on the arts and crafts before indulging in a traditional Cotswold’s pub lunch. Why not visit Cheltenham before your journey home, with broad avenues and fine parks.

Suggested itinerary by coach

Day 1

Travel to your hotel

Arrive at your hotel and relax before dinner.

Day 2

The Wye Valley

The River Wye meanders through unspoilt countryside, historic market towns and picture box black and white villages. Visit Hereford, a historic cathedral city. See the 7th century Cathedral, also home to the medieval Mappa Mundi and the Chained Library or learn about the traditions of rural Herefordshire and the history of cider making at Hereford’s Cider Museum. Other interesting towns include Monmouth, an elegant town with a splendid location at the confluence of three rivers and Chepstow where you’ll see the magnificent Castle.

Day 3

Arts and Crafts

After meeting your guide, your day will begin in the picture postcard village of Chipping Campden, before you head to the Court Barn Museum. On display are pieces by the radical late 19th/early 20th century Arts & Crafts designer C.R. Ashbee, including a magnificent silver presentation piece, a classic designed muffin dish and some beautiful pieces of jewellery that have never been on public display before. Afterwards, head to a traditional Cotswolds pub for a two course lunch. Your guide will take you on a leisurely coach journey through the beautiful Gloucestershire countryside, pointing out sites of interest and giving you fascinating snippets of information about the area. En-route back to your hotel, stop in Stow-on-the-Wold.

Day 4

Return home

Before departing on your homeward journey, you may wish to visit Cheltenham. On the edge of the Cotswolds, it is an inland spa resort of handsome Regency architecture, broad avenues and fine parks. Also famous for its horse racing course and the Gold Cup, the town has excellent shopping and cafés and is well worth a look.
