Day 1-2
Arrive in Wengen
The charming village of Wengen, nestled in the mountains of the Swiss Jungfrau region, is your base for the next five nights on half-board and perfectly located for exploring this stunning Alpine area of Switzerland. Enjoy a three-course dinner at your hotel, the 3* Hotel Belvédère or the 4* Hotel Silberhorn.
Day 3
Lake Brienz, Interlaken & Sherlock Holmes
Start your relaxing holiday with a visit to the city of Interlaken, flanked by Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Enjoy the wonderful views here before enjoying a leisurely cruise across Lake Brienz and driving to the nearby Swiss Open Air Museum in Ballenberg. Continue to Meiringen, made famous by Sherlock Holmes and take a trip on the Reichenbach Funicular to see some of the region’s spectacular waterfalls.
Day 4
Jungfraujoch
Between Jungfrau, the mountain which gives this region its name, and its sister Mönch, lies the Jungfraujoch, a mountain pass with spectacular vistas of the neighbouring peaks and glaciers. A cogwheel train takes you through fascinating tunnels carved through the mountains to Europe’s highest railway station. Perhaps enjoy some refreshment in the Top of Europe building, with beautiful panoramic views.
Day 5
Lucerne
Today, explore the nearby city of Lucerne, with myriad museums to discover. Perhaps enjoy an optional lake cruise or simply stroll along Chapel Bridge, the iconic covered wooden structure stretching across the river Reuss.
Day 6
Schilthorn
The Schilthorn mountain has the world’s first revolving restaurant. Famous as a location in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, there is an exhibition dedicated to the James Bond film.
Day 7-8
Return to the UK
After enjoying breakfast at your hotel, return to the UK with fond memories of the beautiful peaks and lakes of the Swiss Alps.
