Lady Claire visits Castle Howard
Claire from Sales who now likes to be known as Lady Claire, would like to invite you to read about her day at Castle Howard. (She is taking her Bridgerton role far too serious!)
Travelling from Scarborough along the A64 through the Yorkshire countryside and picturesque villages, the journey takes around 50 minutes via Malton to reach Castle Howard.
The short walk from the car/coach park leads you to the entrance arch into the courtyard where you will find shops, a café, restaurant and toilets, as well as the Group Tours entrance into the grounds.
The path leads to the Walled Garden and continues to the House. Claire walked to the House, however there is a Kelly Car if anybody would like to be driven to the House or lake that ran every half an hour on the day she visited.
The House entrance has four steps down, whilst there is an accessible entrance via the gift shop, both entrances lead to the Grand Staircase, a stairlift is available.
Wandering around the House, each room has a helpful staff member waiting to bring the room to life, or audio guides are also available.
Claire was heading to the Long Gallery to try on a period costume, however the stunning Great Hall with its magnificent architecture and beautiful paintings that has appeared in many films and dramas stopped her in her tracks. Taking a few moments to look around, this really is a must for art lovers to visit.
At the Long Gallery period costumes are available, so of course Claire put on a dress thinking she was Lady Bridgerton and waited for her Duke.
Without a Duke, Claire continued the House tour, visiting the Chapel before heading to the new art installation ‘The Story of the Four Winds’ in the grounds.
Her walk continued to The Boating Lake, and then onto the Walled Garden with its fragrant roses and colourful plants, ending at the courtyard for some retail therapy and much needed food after a wonderful day out.
