Valletta; The Capital of Malta

Valletta is abundantly rich in sites to see and explore, intriguing historical buildings around every corner including the splendid Casa Rocca Piccola. Narrow side streets are full of tiny quaint shops and cafés, are perfect for basking in the sunny weather whilst enjoying a coffee or a beer, while Valletta’s main streets are lined with larger international branded shops for fashion, music, jewellery, great for those holiday purchases. Although the things to do & see are many, a good start and definitely not to be missed are Valletta’s beautiful gardens. The Upper Barrakka Gardens, Hastings Gardens & the Lower Barrakka Gardens are just three of the most popular ones, however on further exploration many more hidden gardens can be discovered. This city is truly a European Art City and the many museums and buildings are a testament to the Maltese love of culture.

Mdina; The Noble City

Mdina is one of Europe’s finest examples of an ancient walled city and extraordinary in its mix of medieval and baroque architecture. Dating as far back as the Romans, this city has played a key role in the Mediterranean with the sites and archaeological relics found testifying to the town’s importance during the Roman period. Sitting on top of a hill overlooking large parts of Malta, Mdina was once the Capital of Malta. It was once home to Malta’s noble families; some are descendants of the Norman, Sicilian and Spanish overlords who made Mdina their home from the 12th century onward. Their legacy in the area are the Impressive palaces that line its narrow, shady streets including the majestic Palazzo Parisio aptly described as a ‘Minature Versailles’. Along with this nobility also came with the drink of the nobles and wine tasting at the Meridiana winery is a must.

Experience Tranquil Island of Gozo

Gozo is the second largest island and is more rural, than the island of Malta. Characterised by fishing, crafts and agriculture this island has long standing history of culture and heritage. Life goes at a calmer, slower pace in comparison to its sister Island, Malta. However, it is Gozo’s rugged landscape and spectacular coastline that brings visitors to its shores. Steeped in myth, Gozo is also thought to be the legendary Calypso’s isle of Homer’s Odyssey – a peaceful, mystical backwater. Greek Mythology aside, it is quite clear why one may be so enchanted by such an Island. Nowadays, baroque churches and old stone farmhouses dot the countryside and whilst you’re here, visit St George’s Basilica in Victoria and the natural wonder of the Azure Window in Dwejra along with the salt-pans in Marsalforn.

The island of Malta offers so much in the way of culture history and gastronomy, so inquire today and explore all this and more.
